Flute Festival 2008
With special guests Ian Clarke, Tim Carey and Just Flutes
"This is really difficult, isn't that exciting?!"

We are delighted this year to welcome back Ian Clarke, after being so brilliant in 2006 we thought we'd drag him back again.

All players of grade 5 standard and above are invited to join us for either or both days.

Masterclasses will take place on Saturday and Sunday with limited places available for people who would like to perform. Chosen pieces should be prepared to performance standard, played from an original copy (not photocopy), or from memory and the piano accompaniment should be supplied. Those who are selected to perform will be notified a week before the festival.

Please note: There is an option for an ensemble masterclass (max 4-5 in group) Please indicate on your application form if you would like to be considered for this .

Ian’s plan for this years festival is to look, in depth, at the musicality of flute playing. He plans to look at images, ideas, emotions and colours, to find out what the music means to you. Then help you extend your technique to enable you to communicate those ideas through the flute.

Rehearsals with Tim

Once again this year there will be opportunities to rehearse informally with Tim Carey. It is not necessary to have pieces prepared to performance standard, but the better prepared the more there is to gain from the experience.

Just Flutes.

Jonathan Myall will be present throughout with a huge selection of flutes, headjoints, accessories and sheet music. We have made sure that there will be ample time to browse and shop.
